Killarney is the largest town on the Kerry Way and marks both the start and the end to the trail. This is one of the real hot-spots for tourism in Ireland which brings with it a multitude of amenities to avail of, including a great selection of restaurants, pubs, shops and accommodation.

Killarney is one of the main focal points of transport for the county of Kerry. There is a bus and train station located beside each other providing links to most of the larger towns and cities in Ireland. Around 15km north of Killarney is Kerry Airport which connects to most other Irish airports and a limited amount of International airports.

One of Killarney's most distinguishing features is the horse-drawn jaunting cars which offer trips around the environs of the Killarney National Park. Over ten-thousand acres in size, the park contains many sites of interest - the Muckross Estate, Knockreer House and Gardens, Ross Castle and a seventh century monastery on Inisfallen Island in Lough Leane.
