Sneem is a village divided into two halves by the Sneem River, each side appearing symmetrical on either side with a triangular green which are surrounded by houses and shops. There is a nice open feel to the village giving plenty of communal space to sit down to and watch the daily proceedings.

On the Eastern green one can find a life-sized bronze statue of the villages most famous celebrity - Steve 'Crusher' Casey, who dominated world heavyweight wrestling for over a decade in the 1930's and 40's. Such was Caseys reputation that he found it difficult to find other European wrestlers who would take him on.
